5 High Protein Night-Time Snacks For Weight Loss

Having a hard time losing weight due to late-night snacking?

If so, don’t sweat it. In today’s post, I will be going over 5 of my best late-night snacks that will help you stay on track with your weight loss goals.

Remember, if you want to lose weight, you need to stay within a calorie deficit. So it’s no reason why the snacks you choose at the end of the night can make or break that calorie deficit.

So with that said, let’s get to the good stuff.

Cottage Cheese With Jam

One of my favorite snacks is mixing your favorite jam with a serving of cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is packed with high protein and keeps you full without a ton of calories. Another benefit of eating cottage cheese before bed is the amino acid cottage cheese has, tryptophan. This amino acid eases your nervous system allowing you to sleep better. What kind of jam or how much? For me, it depends on the season. Around spring summer I like to utilize anything from Strawberry to Mango jam. Come Fall-winter I head to Trader joes and purchase the pumpkin jam (healthier pumpkin pie alternative). One thing to note is to keep your jam to 1 serving and go for ones that have zero added sugar. Remember, the more sugar you intake without burning it off will turn to FAT.

Carrot Sticks With Hummus

What you need to do is grab some baby carrots and dip them into 1 serving of your favorite hummus. If baby carrots are not your thing then you can utilize celery or even sliced cucumbers. Whatever works best for you. So why does this combo benefit you? The high protein, awesome fatty acids, and fiber will you feeling full longer.

Fruit Slices With Peanut or Almond Butter

Have a sweet tooth before bed? Then snacking on fruit with almond butter is the one. Now you can use any type of fruit, the most common being apple slices. You can also utilize peanut butter if you’re more of a peanut person. One key thing to note is to NOT overdo the amount of peanut or almond butter. Strictly stick to 1 serving as any butter type of spread has high servings of fat.

Greek Yogurt With Blueberries

Did you know Greek yogurt is jam-packed with protein and can provide a healthy amount of probiotics for healthy digestion? More so, greek yogurt is conveniently packed in small to-go servings. Top your Greek yogurt with some blueberries and you have a nutrient-rich protein-packed late-night snack!

Casein Protein With Almond Milk

Now my all-time favorite snack to curb hunger and boost muscle mass is drinking a Casein protein shake before bed. Casein is a slow-digesting protein supplement that is essential for muscle recovery and weight loss. So if you struggle with waking up hungry or going to sleep hungry, then casein will do the trick and then some. If your calories allow, you can spice up this shake by mixing it with almond milk, fat-free dairy milk, or soy milk.
